On August 25, 2023, the "APU Data Science Program (Basic Level)" received approval from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as part of the "Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Education Program (Literacy Level)." (Approval Period: Until March 31, 2028)

The Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Education Program accreditation system aims to enhance students' interest in mathematics, data science, and AI while fostering foundational skills (at the literacy level) to appropriately understand and apply them. It also builds student’s practical abilities (at the applied foundational level) to solve problems. This involves the systematic education of theory and techniques related to mathematics, data science, and AI provided by universities and other accredited institutions endorsed by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The goal is to increase opportunities for students to improve foundational and practical skills in mathematics, data science, and AI.

As digital technologies advance and the importance of data grows in our daily lives, APU has launched an educational program called "APU Data Science Program (Basic Level)" starting in the 2023 academic year. This program is available to all students and aims to provide knowledge and skills related to "mathematics, data science, and AI," which are fundamental in the digital society.
