Ambassador of Ethiopia to Japan visits APU

On October 23, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H.E. Daba Debele Hunde and Second Secretary Mr. Eylgn Serebe Biyadglgn from the Embassy of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Japan visited APU.

Ethiopian students warmly welcomed Ambassador Daba and Mr. Eylgn and took them on a tour of the campus. After that, the Ambassador had a discussion with President Yoneyama, Vice President Okamura, and student recruitment staff. During the discussion, the Ambassador, who also has experience in educational administration, shared various insights on topics such as future student recruitment in Ethiopia and opportunities for collaboration with universities and alumni in the country. He also highlighted that Ethiopia is the oldest independent country in Africa and the second-most populous nation on the continent, noting its over 100 years of diplomatic relations with Japan and its role as a gateway to the rest of Africa. The Ambassador remarked that the visit to APU was extremely meaningful, as it allowed him to see the university firsthand.
