On Wednesday, April 30, 2014, a debriefing session and closing ceremony were held to mark the conclusion of a Chinese Language Course for one Sanwa Shurui Co., Ltd. trainee as part of the Global Competency Enhancement (GCEP) Program. During the ceremony the trainee performed a skit and song in Chinese and celebrated his successful completion of the program with the faculty members in charge of the program.

The Global Competency Enhancement Program (GCEP) is a corporate training program that utilizes the multicultural and multilingual environment at APU, where international students from 79 countries and regions make up approximately half the student body. For this program a local Oita firm, Sanwa Shurui Co., Ltd. requested a Chinese language course, which was carried out with the cooperation of the APU Confucius Institute. Through the one-month crash course the trainee had intensive Chinese language training, reaching a level where he was able to perform skits and songs in Chinese.

The ceremony concluded with APU Confucius Institute Director KANBE Teruo presenting the trainee with a completion certificate and saying “I greatly respect the diligence and effort it must have taken to achieve such great results in such a short period of time”.
