On February 10, 2014, APU hosted the Oita Kotsu Subsidy Bestowment Ceremony. This subsidy, which is furnished to students who are actively engaged in community exchange and community service endeavors within Oita Prefecture, covers the cost of an unlimited-use student commuter pass within Beppu City for one year. The purpose of the subsidy is to further invigorate such endeavors by APU students.
The ten students selected to receive this subsidy have a record of actively taking part in community activities and exchange programs and doing good for the community. These students were selected on the basis of their academic performance along with their ambition and plans to continue contributing to the vitalization of the community in the future.
In addition to taking part in exchange events, making presentations on the status of their activities at opinion-exchange sessions and submitting reports regarding their experience on Oita Kotsu’s regular sightseeing bus, students selected to receive this subsidy will also be responsible for giving a one-year activity results report to the headquarters of Oita Kotsu, among other endeavors.
KINGKEOW Ponchanit (APM 3, Thailand) addressed Oita Kotsu at the ceremony on behalf of the subsidy recipients, saying “Thanks to your student commuter bus, we have been able to comfortably take part in academic and exchange activities every day from the time we first entered APU to today. For that, your organization has our sincerest gratitude. We intend to do our best in our academic and exchange activities this year as well.”
