Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan visits APU

On Friday, October 21, 2022, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Sergiy Korsunsky from the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan visited the APU campus and met with President Haruaki Deguchi, Vice President Hiroshi Yoneyama, Professor Tatsufumi Yamagata, who is Director of the Asia Pacific Studies Center, as well as APU students from Ukraine.

Ambassador Korsunsky expressed his gratitude to Beppu City for accepting many refugees from Ukraine. He touched on the fact that many young people have started their studies in Japan and said, "I hope they will serve as a bridge between the two countries in the future."

Afterwards, Dr. Korsunsky attended an RCAPS seminar entitled, "The War in Ukraine and the Implications for the Indo-Pacific," which was moderated by Yoichiro Sato, Dean of the College of Asia Pacific Studies, alongside Dr. Brad Glosserman, Senior Researcher at Tama University. After the lecture, the ambassador answered enthusiastic questions from students about the impact on the Asia-Pacific region during a Q&A session.
