The Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (Sylff) fosters global leaders who can overcome differences such as nationality, race, religion, etc. to solve various problems that exist in society. Founded in 1987, there are currently 69 Sylff institutions in 44 countries and regions around the world, with three schools in Japan: APU, Waseda University, and Keio University. In 2010, APU established a scholarship for graduate students in the humanities and social sciences who are expected to become future leaders with the $1,000,000 endowment from the Sylff program.
Two APU graduate students were selected as Sylff fellows in 2024.
On September 26, an orientation for new fellows was held in which a congratulatory speech was given by Professor MEIRMANOV Serik, Dean of Academic Affairs of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, and also by two Deans of Graduate Schools.
Both new fellows said that this opportunity encouraged them to push forward with their research and to make the most of all the opportunity and the support.
