As part of the renewal of heat source equipment at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), equipment previously used at a heat supply facility for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo has been successfully reused at APU through the energy service business Daigas Energy Co., Ltd. The equipment is a gas absorption chiller/heater.

The equipment was originally used at a heat supply facility at the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo to provide chilled water for air conditioning throughout the venue. Following the renewal of the facility, the equipment has been relocated and installed at APU for reuse.

This initiative was made possible through the alignment of Ritsumeikan Educational Foundation’s efforts to reduce environmental impact, as outlined in the Ritsumeikan Environmental Action Guidelines, with the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo’s vision of contributing to the realization of a sustainable society. Through the equipment renewal, APU expects to reduce annual CO₂ emissions by approximately 88 tons compared with the previous equipment.

APU will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by reducing its environmental impact and promoting the circular use of resources.
