Kau Mai in many islands of the Pacific have similar meanings, to "Bring it" and to "Join us". Come and join us as we kick start Oceania Week with an island style bang!
“Lu'au Night” 19:30 ~ 21:00 @The Wave.
Derived from the Islands of Hawaii, a Lu'au is a night filled with laughter, celebratory dances and soothing music from the islands where you will also get a chance of a lifetime to taste our famous relaxing ceremonial beverage - made from the pounded root of the Kava plant , as you also experience our traditional kava ceremony.
“Experience the Art of Tatau” 10:30 ~ 16:00 @Cafeteria, Pasifika Booth.
The art of Tatau began in Samoa, thousands of years ago,later spreading throughout the South Pacific Islands. Tatau are traditional tattoos which were said to be a gift from the gods, worn as an emblem of pride by prominent chiefs and mighty warriors. There will be face and body painting available to anyone who comes by our booth.
“Pasifika Grand Show” 19:00 ~ 20:30 (doors open 6:30) @Millenium Hall.
To end Oceania Week 2015- We will have a grand expose of the exotic cultures of Pasifika.
"Pasifika Booth" Created to give you a glimpse of Oceania on campus through out the week, where we will have pictures, videos, music, small handicrafts and art pieces on display by our local artists from each of our individual countries.
