From Lion City to Silicon Island: The Impacts of Trade Facilitation on Singapore’s Electronic Integrated Circuits Industry
Outline:
Over the past three decades, the electronic integrated circuits (EIC) industry in Southeast Asia was rapidly developed. Especially, Singapore’s EIC industry has achieved great success on the transformation from an early learner to a global leader in past 30 years. In 2017, The EIC export of Singapore had reached to 86.08 billion USD, which took 16.36% of national export.
Under this backdrop, this seminar has the followings objectives: First, it analyzes the trade facilitation’s impacts on the trade development of EIC industry in Singapore with an empirical research method; Second, it evaluates the magnitude of major facilitation activities and find out which kind of facilitation policies will have strong impacts to the EIC trade of Singapore. Third, it presents provides policy implication to the future development of EIC industry of Singapore.
