Electronics graveyards, filled with discarded mobile phones, personal computers and printers, can be turned into a treasure island full of gold, platinum, rare earth elements. Urban mining is a process of extracting these previous metals and rare earth elements from e-waste discarded upon open dump yards. While it offers immense source of mining, its potential has not been fully tapped. The workshop is designed to explore the possibility of tapping these under-utilised resources. Urban mining requires the close cooperation between business communities and local stakeholders, particularly those who are keen to resolve the environmental problems. Your active participation is very much welcome!
