APU’s diverse and unique student body, faculty and world-wide networks, are among the best in Japan, and indeed the entire world.
This network of connections in various fields helps APU to bring global figures and industry leaders to our campus and provide opportunities for our students to hear directly from them.
Our most recent guest speaker was the US Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Tara D. Sonenshine, who spoke to a large audience of students and faculty members about public diplomacy and 21st century statecraft, exchange between the US and Japan, and educational opportunities in the USA (click here for news article).
In 2012 alone, APU had the privilege of hosting an impressive range of ambassadors and representatives from the USA, Portugal, Mongolia, Vietnam, Kosovo, Indonesia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Sweden, Laos, Holland and China – many of whom have delivered special lectures.
Japanese government, legal and diplomatic leaders are also frequent speakers at APU including Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations, KODAMA Kazuo, the President of the International Court of Justice, Judge OWADA Hisashi, and in the fields of science and technology, the renowned neuroscientist, Dr. MOGI Kenichiro. The Top Lecture series is a regular feature on the APU academic calendar. This year we hosted Hoshino Resort Co., Ltd., HOSHINO Yoshiharu.
Guest speakers not only offer APU students the opportunity to hear directly from global leaders in their respective fields, but to also be inspired to become the future leaders of their chosen field and we encourage students to take full advantage of these valuable opportunities.
